Harlem Children’s Zone Celebrates National College Signing Day 2022

Our scholars are college bound! The Harlem Children’s Zone community gathered for National College Signing Day 2022 to celebrate our seniors for getting into and choosing the college they will attend in the fall.

From Cornell to Virginia State to UCLA and everywhere in between — our HCZ Promise Academy and Zone high school seniors announced their choice of college at the annual event hosted by our College Success Office (CSO). The program empowers scholars with the tools and resources they need to thrive in college and earn a degree.

We are so proud of our seniors and applaud them for making it to the next stage of their journey. Congrats Class of 2022!

A Look Back: College Signing Day 2016

The history of National College Singning Day at Harlem Children’s Zone dates to 2016 when First Lady Michelle Obama joined our community in celebrating thousands of college-bound seniors on their choice of college.

As the official host site of National College Signing Day, HCZ welcomed nearly 5,000 seniors from across New York City to the Harlem Armory to join the celebration with our HCZ Promise Academy and Zone high school seniors.

Mrs. Obama, who showed up in a Princeton T-shirt, honored New York City students — and offered some advice.

“Ask for help, you all,” she told the seniors at the event. “No one gets through college alone.”

We couldn’t agree more. At Harlem Children’s Zone, we’ll be there for our scholars every step of their college and career journeys.
