Our scholars may leave the Zone to go to college, but the Zone never leaves them. College Success Office (CSO) empowers our scholars to succeed in college and earn their degrees so they can embark on fruitful careers and pave the path to social and economic mobility.

About College Success Office

College Success Office (CSO) empowers scholars with the tools and resources they need to thrive in college and earn a degree. We believe this is the primary means of breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

CSO is open to scholars enrolled in our HCZ Promise Academy Charter Schools and Zone After School Programs.

College Success Office Services

When scholars get into college, they get the help they need to persist through their post-secondary journey. Our College Success Office services include:

  • One-on-one coaching 
  • Academic, emotional, and financial support  
  • Check ins with scholars to ensure they’re progressing along their college journey  
  • Visits from CSO staff to help scholars establish and maintain relationships with campus and community liaisons

Social Services

Throughout their college and career journey, CSO scholars receive support in social and emotional development — critical to their professional growth. Our mental health professionals work with scholars to address wellness concerns, navigate pathways toward their goals, and help them continue to grow into their best selves.

HCZ Forward

HCZ Forward provides a pathway for CSO scholars to earn a college degree affordably, independently, and on their own schedules. CSO participants who are working full-time, raising a family, or caring for a loved one can earn their degree while continuing to fulfill their personal obligations.
