The Promise Academy & Zone Afterschool programs incorporate multiple opportunities for youth participation, beginning October 5th, 2020. HCZ afterschool programming provides various opportunities for youth participation, including live and pre-recorded instruction via Zoom and a Virtual Reality (VR) platform as well as engaging enrichment activities via Google Classroom.

Please note, our Promise Academy afterschool programming is open for current Promise Academy students only. Our Programs open to all residents in Harlem are: 

All activities are thematic and project-based, incorporating Positive Youth Development (PYD) and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) at the core of our engagement. Each enrichment activity will incrementally advance students through well-defined performance standards and build towards mastery in STEM, Arts, Civics, Broadcasting and Health & Wellness programming. Additionally, we are intentionally embedding opportunities for youth leadership through our Youth Advocacy Council (YAC) and our Teen Advisory Board (TAB). The afterschool program will start on October 5th, 2020. See below for scheduling. All activities are 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on content.

Note: For select activities, supplies will be furnished to students. All activities (with exception to virtual reality) will be conducted on Zoom or Google Classroom
