Leaving a gift to HCZ in your will or trust is a powerful way to secure the work of our organization and help advance our mission to end intergenerational poverty and do so in a tax-advantaged way. Gifts through your will or trust, also known as bequests, ensure that we can support future generations of families and scholars.
To make a bequest to HCZ, we suggest using the following language:
“I give and bequeath to Harlem Children’s Zone, Inc. a 501(c)3 public charity Corporation located in New York City, New York, (____% of my residuary estate or $____).”

I would like to designate HCZ as the beneficiary of my financial assets
Naming HCZ as the beneficiary of your financial assets such as an IRA, 401(k), life insurance, bank account, or investment account is a simple and quick way to make an impactful gift. In most situations, it is as easy as completing a form provided by your plan administrator. You can specify the amount or percentage of the assets you would like HCZ to receive.
In addition, naming HCZ as a beneficiary of retirement assets such as an IRA or 401(k), may provide you with tax benefits as retirement assets left to individuals are often subject to heavy taxes.
To designate HCZ as a beneficiary of your financial assets, please name “Harlem Children’s Zone, Inc.” on your beneficiary designation form and return to your plan’s administrator.
