Mental Health Matters: Resources from HCZ’s Emotional Wellness

Black Mental Health Matters: Resources from HCZ’s Emotional Wellness Team graphic

At Harlem Children’s Zone, we believe mental health matters.

We care deeply about nurturing a culture of mental health and emotional wellness. As such, our Emotional Wellness team offers a range of resources to help our community cope with stress, advocate for their health and human rights, and practice self-care. As the poet Audre Lorde said, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation.”

Black Mental Health Matters

Mental health treatment remains out of reach for many people in the Black community, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association. Historically, members of this community have relied on inner resilience to overcome mental health issues.

However, we want them to know they are not alone in confronting these challenges. For support, reach out to the Emotional Wellness team at emotionalwellness@hcz.org.
