In the last several days, HCZ staffers prepared 4,000 packages of food supplies for our families. Over the course of four days, dozens of our HCZ staffers woke up early to donate their time and distribute two weeks’ worth of non-perishable food supplies to members of the community.
On the first morning of distribution, HCZ staffers had a surprise visitor. Founder Geoff Canada wanted to thank them personally. “I wanted to come here because I wanted to see the faces of heroes. The only thing between them and disaster is the fact that you all got up this morning, you came out to serve our people. Because our families, they have no one else but us.”
As CEO-elect Kwame Owusu-Kesse said, “We are first responders to all of our families in the Zone. We thank each and every one of you for continuing to serve our community in this most uncertain of times. In giving so generously of yourselves, we are saving lives.”
