Elementary Charter School Teachers (Multiple Positions) The Harlem Children's Zone has two Promise Academy Charter Schools, providing a first-rate, year-round education to K-12 students living primarily in the under performing school district of Central Harlem. Opened in 2004, Promise Academy schools currently serve close to 1,000 children in two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Each year, more students and grades are added with plans to ultimately reach over 2,000 children. The schools are rooted in the belief that all students are capable of academic and personal success when they are surrounded by parents, teachers, and mentors who provide support and maintain the highest of expectations. A comprehensive year-round college preparatory educational program, with an extended school day and school year is central to the schools success. The program has a strong focus on literacy and mathematics (over two hours of literacy instruction and over 90 minutes of mathematics instruction each day) within a safe, structured and personalized environment. The academic day runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m., approximately 20% longer than the vast majority of surrounding public schools. HCZ Promise Academy schools consistently enforce a rigorous code of conduct, dress code, and emphasize personalized relationships among students, teachers, and families. We are looking for devoted professionals who share our passion for children and want to join in our mission to enhance their lives.
